Saturday afternoon turns to Swing Jack & Jill, workshops, and social dancing. We’ll wind down for about an hour and a half for the first big all-you-can-eat dinner buffet. Then—IT’S PARTY TIME!!!! A ‘big’ Saturday night includes our 1980’s Prom Party (go ahead and give yourself some ’big hair’ and dress for the occasion) that includes a ‘best costume’ parade and contest, a ‘lip-sync and air guitar band contest’ as well as some light-hearted entertainment and special performances. HOOT!!! Then there’s the highlight of Saturday night—the 80’s Prom costumed All Stars & Champions Strictly Swing Contest. Late night Saturday night will feature our “Light Up The Night” neon glow party right after awards and another ice cream social.
Sunday – Pro Am competitions in swing, night club, and two step start off the day. Workshops, social dancing, and Swing Jack & Jill contests will consume the entire afternoon. There is a second buffet dinner on Sunday evening. Sunday night – another highlight of the FreZno event — a U.S.O. Fundraiser Auction offering Dancing With The Pros and the All Stars & Champions Jack & Jill Swing contest. There’s another ice cream social, and – and – and we’re bringing back our Karaoke Party with pizza and beer at 12:30. Oh what a night! We dance till 5 am Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
Monday – we’re not done yet! We always, always, always honor our military men and women on Memorial Day with a meaningful presentation and a stark reminder of the sacrifice and dedication of our service personnel. Then we lighten things up drastically – with our 18th year of the Gong Show and the unpredictable entertainment it always provides. Awards follow – done by about 11:30 a.m. Hotel checkout is pre-arranged for 2 p.m. for your convenience.
Other special features of the event include complimentary popcorn Saturday and Sunday afternoons; pastry, coffee and tea on Monday morning; nearly 2,000 Jello Shooters throughout the weekend; massage therapists on duty in the ballroom for your convenience; a Sophisticated Age Division of Jack & Jill and Strictly Swing, and our very unique (and very fair) All In / High Low Jack & Jill swing contest. More than $10,000.00 in prize money is certainly another highlight for competitors.
PARTY THEME FOR 2017 : The “1980’s Prom Party and Dance”
WELCOME TO SATURDAY EVENING. There’s already some early ‘buzz’ about our party theme this year. Most seem really excited about it. It is going to be a HOOT! Just like back in high school—we’ll crown a King and Queen, there will be special dance performances, and a fun-inspired lip sync contest for groups making up an air guitar band. It’s going to be a hoot—you can find information on the web site to enter your group and make your prom the event of the year! And as usual – we’ll feature our costume parade and have prizes for best costume (can’t wait to see!!!). There will also be some ‘themed entertainment’ which we’re keeping a surprise – due to ……..well, I really can’t say. Be there!
DANCE WORKSHOPS
More than 15 dance workshops primarily in West Coast Swing and Two Step, and we’ll add some Night Club, Cha Cha, Waltz, and even an intro class in Tango. All dance workshops (except the Friday morning swing intensive) are included with the weekend admission ticket. Classes will begin at 2 PM on Friday - they sometimes alternate with social swing dancing, and sometimes run two at a time. There will be classes offered in all levels of dance with Intermediate level classes comprising the largest number focusing on fun social dance moves, lead and follow, ‘good’ technique, and music interpretation. We’ll post our workshop schedule on the web site by May 24th – once our staff assignments are complete. As always, we assure you a super star line-up of dance pros and champions to offer top notch instruction throughout the weekend.
SPECIAL MEALS
For your convenience, the Hotel is once again providing two special ‘all you can eat’ dinner buffets for the dancers. The whole purpose of the two group meals is ‘convenience and saving time’, allowing everyone to enjoy the dinner time together, and to provide a delicious, hot, and timely meal so no one will miss any of the event activities. If you’re undecided for early registration - dinner tickets may also be purchased at the event.
